Google Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro were launched in October last year with the Tensor G3 chipset and several AI-based features. In just a few months after launch, we’ve seen multiple leaks about the next-generation Pixel phones floating around the web. Google’s next-generation SoC — the Tensor G4 — is expected to power the Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro. The chipset will reportedly be based on Samsung’s latest 4nm process and may offer improved power efficiency and thermal management.
According to Korean media FNN, Google will apply Samsung Electronics’ foundry 4nm microprocessing technology to the Tensor G4 chipset, which will be installed in the upcoming Pixel 9 series. According to reports, Tensor G4 will use an advanced packaging method called FOWLP (fan-out wafer-level packaging). This type of packaging is said to improve semiconductor heating and increase power efficiency and performance. This will represent a significant improvement over last year’s Tensor G3 SoC.
Additionally, the report states that Samsung is using a 4nm process for the Exynos 2400 chipset in the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+ models. The report claims that the phones have been well received in the selected markets where they were launched.
Earlier, the Tensor G4 SoC was expected to come with minor performance upgrades over the Tensor G3 SoC.
In India, the Pixel 8 price starts at Rs. The 8GB RAM + 128GB storage model is priced at Rs 75,999, while the Pixel 8 Pro starts at Rs 75,999. 1,06,999 for the 12GB RAM + 128GB storage model.
Google’s Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro run Android 14. The regular version comes with a 6.2-inch Full HD+ (1,080×2,400 pixels) OLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate. The Pixel 8 Pro, meanwhile, features a 6.7-inch OLED display with Quad HD (1,344×2,992 pixels) resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. They run on Google’s Tensor G3 chipset and Titan M2 security chip.
The Pixel 8 has a dual rear camera unit, led by a 50-megapixel Samsung GN2 sensor, while the Pixel 8 Pro has a triple rear camera setup, including a 50-megapixel primary sensor. Both models feature a 10.5-megapixel front-facing camera. The Pixel 8 is equipped with a 4,575mAh battery and supports 27W wired charging, while the Pixel 8 Pro is equipped with a 5,050mAh battery and supports 30W wired charging.
