Poco India head Himanshu Tandon hinted that a new budget 5G smartphone will be launched in the country. Tandon on X (formerly Twitter) announced on Tuesday (March 5) that Poco is expanding its partnership with Airtel to launch a new phone. Poco launched the Airtel exclusive version of the Poco C51 in July last year. It offers Airtel prepaid connection and comes with exclusive offers from Airtel. The phone is powered by MediaTek Helio G36 SoC and comes with a 5,000mAh battery.
Himanshu Tandon tease Poco’s upcoming phone is part of a partnership with Airtel. “Poco X Airtel another partnership! Coming soon!” he posted. It is said to be the most affordable 5G phone ever launched in India. Replying to a comment on the post, he said the upcoming smartphone will not be an “Airtel version” of the existing device, hinting at the launch of a new phone. However, when a user asked Tandon if it was the Airtel version of Poco M6 5G, he replied: Replied “real”.
Poco launched the Poco C51 in April last year, priced at Rs. 8,499 for the only 4GB RAM + 64GB storage variant. The Airtel exclusive version was later launched in July for Rs 100. 5,999. It comes bundled with Airtel prepaid connection and 50GB of one-time free mobile data.
Poco C51 features a 6.52-inch HD+ (720×1,600 pixels) display with 120Hz touch sampling rate. It is powered by octa-core MediaTek Helio G36 SoC coupled with 4GB RAM. The built-in RAM can actually be expanded to 7GB by using the 3GB of unused storage.
It has a dual rear camera unit that includes an 8-megapixel primary sensor and a secondary depth sensor. Poco C51 has a 5-megapixel sensor on the front. It comes with 64GB of onboard storage and is backed by a 5,000mAh battery.
